Film Fest

The Film Fest is a wonderful collection of two minute short films professionally produced by school pupils and disabled people who took part in the "My Story Is..." workshops.

School classes from Christchurch were divided into groups of three students. Each group was matched with a disabled person forming a team. The students interviewed us to learn about our lives, education, employment, sports and recreational interests, achievements and challenges. The students photographed us and our memorabilia. Once all the information had been acquired, the teams used Photo Story to make a short film using the photographs they had taken and interspersing them with written statements from the story they had heard from us.

The “My Story is …” workshops are deemed as being a great success as students learn about some of the difficulties we face in our daily lives. The workshops break down barriers by enabling disabled people to speak openly about themselves and allow students an opportunity to be inquisitive.
