NORTHLAND FILM FEST - Wednesday 03 September - 7pm to 8:30pm

The Northland Film Fest was held last night to a packed and very appreciative audience. Thank you to Raumoa Kawiti, local Kaumatua for providing leadership in the opening and closing powhiri.

A huge thank you to the students, teachers and of course the community of Te Rangi Aniwaniwa and Manaia View for their commitment and dedication to the DVD workshops.

The biggest thank you must to go to our guests who live daily with the experience of disability. The ability they had in sharing their story created open dialogue and an awareness to those present of seeing people as people.

We would also like to thank the local co-ordinators, Tiaho Trust for their huge commitment to the project.

The “our stories” project has created an awareness within Northland of disability and will result in opportunities being created for those living with disability in the areas of education, employment and community.

Feedback From the Film Fest

“The evening was fantastic - full house! Everything went smoothly and some great laughs were had, guest speakers amazing and the song written and sung by one of the guests was awesome! The DVD's were fantastic too.”

“Every person I spoke to and others that I overheard talking to people afterwards were all "blown away" by such a great evening and all the work put into the whole project (photo expo and other evenings).”

“Wow, what a night. Where were you!!! Lots and lots of emotion. It was packed. Every seat (160) including all the floor-space was used to sit on!”
